Michelin starred chefs: the beginning of haute cuisine in Cagliari
Traditional cuisine of Cagliari is revisited by contemporary Michelin starred chefs also protagonists of “Notti stellate” – starry nights, a series of 5 events organised by Palazzo Doglio and the Osteria del Forte.

The Osteria del Forte is located within Palazzo Doglio, the new luxury hotel opposite the magnificent Basilica of Saturnino in the heart of the Sardinian Capital and just 400 metres from the fascinating touristic port in via Roma, it’s also not far from the historical districts of Cagliari and the famous shore of Poetto and its beautiful urban beach.
The restaurant represents a new reality uniting the classical idea of an Italian tavern to the modern reinterpretation of dishes and flavours. The kitchen is run by chef Alessandro Cocco, a promising young Italian cook who built his career at Forte Village resort under the guidance of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and three Michelin starred chef Heinz Beck.
Osteria del Forte is in an exceptional location and can be attended either breakfast, lunch or dinner, it has also added brunch to its repertoire, a new appointment for those wanting to discover the variations of flavour and try different dishes every week capable of capturing even the most demanding clients.
Starting from the 23rd of July 2020, the restaurant will host the stars of haute cuisine who will shed light on the food and wine panorama of Cagliari during the “Notti Stellate” events organized by Palazzo Doglio and the Osteria del Forte.
The format “cene a 4 mani” – dinner with four hands, will be led by Alessandro Cocco, Executive chef of the Osteria del Forte, whom will collaborate with internationally famous colleagues and offer the guests an artistic culinary experience in the suggestive courtyard of Palazzo Doglio which has been recently restored and brought back to its original splendour.

Here are the 5 appointments to put in your calendar:
23rd July 2020: Alessandro Cocco & Matteo Grandi, 1 Michelin star. Matteo Grandi won first prize on the famous television program Hell’s Kitchen, in 2015 he opened his first restaurant Degusto in San Bonifacio (Verona), rewarded with one Michelin star in 2019. Chef Grandi began his career in Shanghai, he then met Jean Claude Fugvier whom he will follow to various restaurants belonging to the Park Hyatt chain, firstly in China and then in India.
27th July 2020: Alessandro Cocco & Alessandro Breda, 1 Michelin star. After working with Heinz Winter in Munich and the Enoteca Pinchiorri, Alessandro Breda became part of the kitchen team run by the master of Italian cuisine Gualtiero Marchesi. He opened the Al Capitello restaurant in Corbanese di Tarzo and then continued to the Gellius di Oderzo in the province of Treviso where he conquered his sought after Michelin star.
4th August 2020: Alessandro Cocco & Fabio Pisani, 2 Michelin stars. Chef Fabio Pisani worked in Milan with Alessandro Negrini at the restaurant Aimo e Nadia, member of Relais&Chateaux. Young Fabio married chef Stefania, daughter of Aimo and Nadia and together they inherited the unique style representing the national culinary tradition with a contemporary approach, enriching it with their knowledge and passion.
12th August 2020: Alessandro Cocco & Andrea Berton, 1 Michelin star. Andrea Berton began his career as a cook in the 90s, he worked with Gualtiero Marchesi and then Alain Ducasse. In 2005 he initiated a collaboration with the Trussardi alla Scala Restaurant where he earned his first Michelin star in 2008 and his second in 2009. He opened the Berton restaurant in Milan in 2013 and by 2014 it already received a Michelin star, also when he opened his second restaurant Ristorante Berton al Lago on the lake Como in the hotel il Sereno, it received a Michelin star after only 9 months.
19th August 2020: Alessandro Cocco & Massimiliano Mascia, 2 Michelin stars. Massimiliano Mascia is the chef at Ristorante San Domenico in Imola, a 2 Michelin starred restaurant since 1977. He’s had a culinary passion since a young boy and took inspiration from his uncle Valentino Marcattilii from whom he learned many tricks of the trade. After some years his uncle brought him to the Ristorante Vissani and del Romano in Viareggio, he also worked at the Osteria Fiamma in New York, the French restaurant Bastide Saint Antoine and in the multi-starred chef Alain Ducasse’s restaurant Plaza Athenée in Paris.
The gourmet evenings focused on Michelin starred cuisine will be followed by the “Cantine alla Corte” events, an occasion to discover the most renowned Sardinian wines combined with dishes made especially for the events by Alessandro Cocco.
