World Travel Awards: Palazzo Doglio is the best new hotel in Europe
The World Travel Awards are considered the Oscars of Tourism and among the winners of 2020, there is Palazzo Doglio that won the prestigious award Europe’s Leading New Hotel.
Among the winners of the World Travel Awards 2020, there is also Palazzo Doglio, a luxury hotel in the heart of Castello, one of the historic districts of Cagliari, which won one of the most coveted awards: Europe’s Leading New Hotel.
Now in its 27th edition, the World Travel Awards™ established in 1993 to recognize, celebrate and reward excellence in all key sectors of the travel industry, tourism, and hospitality, the WTA brand is a symbol of quality internationally.
The gala ceremonies of the World Travel Awards™, considered one of the most important events in the tourism sector, are attended by great personalities of the hospitality industry, professionals, and the principal international media of the press and radio and television. Every year the World Travel Awards™ crosses the world with its Grand Tour, a series of regional gala ceremonies that culminate in being bigger and more conclusive. World Travel Awards: who are the winners of the Oscars of Tourism 2020
The World Travel Awards 2020 edition was different from the usual ones, it replaced the gala with an award in the virtual mode because of the restrictions adopted to counter the pandemic by Covid-19.
For the fourth consecutive year, Portugal was elected Europe’s Leading Destination while Moscow was awarded two awards: Europe’s Leading City Destination and Europe’s Leading Heritage Destination’.
In the hospitality sector, the Oscars of Tourism were awarded to the Çırağan Palace Kempinski in Istanbul, elected Europe’s Leading Hotel, at the Elounda Beach Hotel & Villas in Crete in Greece, which won Europe’s Leading Beach Resort, and at the Forte Village Resort in Santa Margherita di Pula, Sardinia, which won Europe’s Leading Resort award.
Italy also wins two other coveted awards: Europe’s Leading New Resort for Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti and Europe’s Leading New Hotel for Palazzo Doglio, the luxury hotel in the heart of Cagliari in front of the magnificent Basilica of Saturnino, 400 meters from the charming marina of Via Roma and not far from the famous promenade with its beautiful beach of Poetto and the historic Lido.
The award is the result of one-year research to find the best representatives of the travel, tourism, and hospitality sector, and the votes were cast by professionals in the travel sector and by the public. Other winners include:

- The Langham, London: England’s Leading Luxury Hotel
- Adare Manor: Ireland’s Leading Hotel
