Francesco Pruneddu and his book “Dolci d’Italia. Pastry History from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century”
From 7 pm on May 26, Palazzo Doglio will host the launch of the book “Dolci d’Italia. Pastry History from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century” (Solferino Libri 2022) by Francesco Pruneddu.
Born in Oristano in 1985, graduated in Cagliari in Art History, social media manager and passionate about food, photography and painting. Through his Instagram profile @ch_ecco with over 140 thousand followers, the author presents recipes (mostly cakes), sometimes forgotten, which have made cooking history, through images that are inspired by the still lives of the seventeenth century.
During the evening, along with the journalist Stefania Cotza, Ch_ecco will talk about his book “Dolci d’Italia”: a narrative that combines cakes with artworks, translating into poetic images the mastery of culinary elaboration from the Middle Ages to the early twentieth century, passing through the Renaissance, Enlightenment and the bourgeois age.
Among the pages of the book, Pruneddu has collected a selection of the best desserts of the Italian tradition to accompany the reader on a real journey through time and history.
Each shot, which is inspired by a work of art, is in itself a work of art: the book is much more than a simple recipe book but a story that speaks of our traditions, of those sweets with an ancient but timeless flavour.
From biscuits, to cakes, to puddings, each recipe is the result of meticulous historical research and a careful study of culinary treatises from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century: a fortunate encounter between history, art and pastry.
Inside the volume, the reader will find:
- Cuisine and art history
- Desserts from the Middle Ages
- Desserts from the Renaissance
- Desserts from the Enlightenment and the Risorgimento eras
- Desserts from the twentieth century
- Desserts from the world.
